World News – GB – Nmecha and Palmer double down to help EDS Outfox Leicester

Nmecha opened the scoring with a near-post header just after the half hour, before Palmer added a second with an impressive solo effort a few minutes later

And in a mirror image of the first 45th, Nmecha’s compound finish following Adrian Bernabe’s cut sealed the three points in the 86th minute, before Palmer calmly finished the scoring just before the 90 minute mark.

Enzo Maresca’s men had all their worth for the win and will take a lot of the positives away from them ahead of their clash with Arsenal on Saturday

We started off brilliantly and almost found ourselves in the lead just after five minutes when Bernabe and Nmecha won the ball off the back of a high press before feeding Liam Delap

But after running on goal, the striker’s effort was brilliantly blocked by Leicester center-half Ben Nelson

A few minutes later, the ball fell nicely for Tommy Doyle around the penalty spot after smarter work from Nmecha and Bernabe on the left, but he was denied a late 19th birthday gift by a timely blocking

The odds continued to present themselves for City, with Palmer stepping in to their left and forcing a smart save from visiting goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk

Nmecha will then feel like he should have opened the scoring after losing his marker in the box, but his side effort was high and wide from a bad corner from Doyle

We continued to dominate possession, with Captain CJ Egan-Riley often drifting down the middle to give Palmer more freedom on the right

Luke Mbete’s timely interception from a dangerous crossing set up a quick counter, with Palmer rushing into space behind Leicester’s back line

The winger made his way to the side line before returning an inviting ball to the pressed Nmecha, who propelled the house with his header

And Palmer went from supplier to scorer five minutes later, jumping into the box from the right and finishing at close range to put some light between the sides.

We started in a similar fashion in the second half and could have gone three before when Bernabe was cleared off by Delap, but Stolarczyk quickly left his line to block the winger’s effort

Leicester was then reduced to ten men just after the 50-minute mark when winger Ali Reghba received his marching orders for a late challenge on Nmecha

The visitors stepped up their defense after the setback, but City kept knocking on the door as we tried to add more shine to the score

Delap in particular came close just past the hour mark, tirelessly pressing forward to gain possession in the box, but his effort was well saved

And the forward was denied the goal his performance once again deserved when a cheeky lob on Stolarczyk came back off the bar, before Bernabe’s diving header on the rebound was heroically blocked on the line

But that elusive third finally arrived with the downtime approaching when Nmecha got it right with a cool finish from Bernabe’s cut

And not to be outdone, Palmer added his second two minutes later at close range to put the game out of sight

James Trafford was protected by a back four from Egan-Riley, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Mbete and Nathanael Ogbeta

Claudio Gomes was seated in front of the defense, with Doyle and Nmecha allowed to advance in a midfield three

The victory takes us to fifth place in the Premier League 2 table, two points behind the top four

Enzo Maresca’s men are back in Premier League 2 next Saturday as they host Arsenal at the Academy Stadium Kick-off is at 1:00 p.m.
