After asking Matt Hancock « where the hell he was » during the past six months after the Conservative Party boycotted Good Morning Britain, Pierce Morgan wanted to know why the Secretary of Health had not stepped down after the way he had dealt with the coronavirus pandemic.
“I was here last week, if only for a while and said that I would be back as soon as the diaries allowed it. I am here, happy to answer any questions.
“Do you think it is right and appropriate that you, as the Minister of Health, the entire Conservative Party, and the Prime Minister, boycotted a television program for the morning breakfast for six months? Do you support it or agree with it?” asked Mr. Morgan.
« As I say, last week I was asked to come and come as soon as possible, and here I am, » replied the Minister of Health.
« Did you support the boycott? » Susanna Reed Schimid and Mr. Morgan continued: “It’s an important question!.
The politician then said that he was « incredibly hard working » but still refused to discuss a boycott.
The GMB bidders moved on after that and Mr. Morgan wanted to cover « some of the things we missed in the last six months » due to the government’s absence from the show.
“Minister of Health, under your supervision, throughout this epidemic that started in January, I said this . . . « Mr. Morgan and a clip of mr. Hancock was played in Parliament.
“It was very reassuring when I said it – but it turns out we had very little PPE and hundreds died..
“The ring of protection” that you were proud of [for care homes], sent thousands of elderly people out of care homes and to hospitals.
“We allowed 20 million people to travel to this country, and I said the public does not need to wear masks – and now I say they do. You said people could shake hands when the World Health Organization warned.
“You said the gatherings were good – we’ve seen a huge increase in cases after the Cheltenham Festival.
« We closed our doors too late for two weeks, and we may have lost 25,000 people, ».
“We discontinued testing at a critical time in pursuit of the herd immunity policy, which was then reversed.
“I put it to you, more than 50,000 deaths, the worst in all of Europe. Why are you still the Minister of Health and why did you not submit your resignation?
