Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has been impressed with what he has seen of newcomer Edinson Cavani in training so far
The 33-year-old Uruguayan forward moved to Old Trafford on deadline day and came off the bench to make his first appearance in the weekend’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea
He could be in line to make his first start for the club when the Red Devils face German club RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday night
And in a pre-match interview with BT Sport, McTominay explained what he had noticed about Cavani so far
« My first impression of him was that he is quite shy but very hardworking and demanding of his teammates
« You can also see that killer instinct He likes going higher up the field and we need it
« We have that with Martial, Rashford, Greenwood and Dan James, but having that extra experience at Edinson is a brilliant asset to have
United got off to a great start to their Champions League campaign with a surprise 2-1 away win over PSG last week
But McTominay insists they won’t underestimate the threat from Leipzig, who shocked Europe by reaching the semi-finals last season, beating Atletico Madrid and Tottenham on the way
« I think that’s the clear message: it will never be an easy day against a Champions League side, » he added
« You have to be so focused and focused that we will give them the utmost respect, but we are going to focus only on ourselves
« If you get into a sleepy match, you can get caught in the Champions League
« Their energy and pressure is really impressive, but I think the message for us will be to approach this game with firm focus but also to come out and enjoy it.
« We play in the Champions League, which we did not play in last year. You have to savor every moment that you play in this competition »
