ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) – The medical staff in St. . Not only will Claire HealthCare in Morehead be encouraged to get vaccinated against COVID-19, it will be required.
Medical staff voted Tuesday that the vaccine was an expectation for all members of the medical staff.
The first to consider for the vaccine are doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, environmental service personnel, maintenance staff and other frontline personnel involved in caring for COVID-19 patients.

They hope the vaccine will be available to all first tier employees by the first of the year.
The hospital expects its first delivery on Monday the 21st. December, and plans to give these doses later in the afternoon.
Doctor William Melahn hopes this will give the community comfort and confidence in the vaccine.
« We’re going to take this vaccine because it’s right for this community, » said Dr. . Said Melahn. “We just want to make sure we send a message to the community that these doctors, all of our doctors, believe in this vaccine. We know it’s safe and we’ll all take it ourselves. ”
It is currently unclear how many doses the hospital will receive in its first delivery or when more are expected.
St. . Claire says she expects to get the Moderna vaccine, which is pending emergency approval from the FDA.
