Trading activity in the stock market ended the last week of October on a positive trajectory as the NSE All-Share index and market cap appreciated by 639% to end the week at 3053069 and N1596tn, respectively

Likewise, all other indices finished higher except for the NSE ASeM index which closed flat

It was a four-day negotiating week as Nigeria’s federal government declared Thursday, October 29, a public holiday to commemorate Eid-al-Maulud

Meanwhile, a total turnover of 1909 billion shares worth N6 billion out of 23578 trades were traded last week by investors on the exchange floor, compared to a total of 151 billion shares valued at N1967 billion that traded hands the previous week in 20,552 trades

The financial services sector (measured by volume) leads the activity chart with 148 billion shares valued at N1558 billion traded in 12,546 transactions; thus contributing 7741 percent and 6597% of the volume and total value of stock turnover, respectively

The consumer goods industry followed with 13,179 million shares worth N261 billion in 4,112 deals Third place was industrial goods, with turnover of 8353 million shares worth N357 billion in 1818 offers

Trading in the three main stocks, namely FBN Holding Plc, Zenith Bank Plc and Access Bank Plc (measured by volume), accounted for 57,651 million shares worth N679 billion in 4,652 transactions, contributing 3,019 to cent and 2876% of volume and total value of turnover of shares, respectively

On the stock market, 68 stocks appreciated during the week, more than 28 stocks the week before

Six stocks depreciated in price, below 35 stocks the previous week, while 94 stocks remained unchanged, lower than the 99 stocks recorded the previous week

A total of 262,849 units of ETP valued at N216 billion were traded last week in 52 transactions against a total of 284,105 units valued at N209 billion transactions the previous week in 44 transactions

A total of 7,730 bond units valued at N9,211million were traded last week in 15 trades, compared to a total of 19,811 units valued at N2589million that traded the previous week in 10 trades

The Federal Government of Nigeria Savings Bond’s October 2020 issues were listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Monday, October 26, 2020

In addition, 687,142 units of NEWGOLD ETF were listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange Daily Official List on Wednesday October 28, 2020

The additional stock exchange listing results from the creation by the issuer of additional units of NEWGOLD ETF

With this listing of the additional 687,142 units, the total issued and outstanding balance of the listed NEWGOLD ETF has now increased from 1,050,000 to 1,737,142 units
