Susie Dent, 55, who is best known for starring in Countdown and 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, admitted she would feel far from « comfortable » if she took part in Strictly Come Dancing Despite her admission, the lexicographer apologized for her comments in a new interview

This comes after Susie was asked if she would follow in Rachel Riley’s footsteps and compete on Strictly if approached

« I can only dance well when I’m drunk or in the dark, so I think in the spotlight, in front of millions of people, it’s so far away where I would feel comfortable »

« Rachel is amazing, and so is Nick Hewer! It was a tough time at the start, with a complete staff change, I felt pretty nervous about it, » she said

« She was awesome from the start, I admire her work and she’s also incredibly sweet Plus she’s a lot of fun! »

Susie works with Rachel when she plays both Countdown and 8 out of 10 cats

« She’s a really good friend to have and I’m glad it ends up on both shows, » she told OK! Magazine

« It’s a cliché to say we’re all one big family, but it really is! I really missed them all during the lockdown »

She is well known for being the lexicographer and resident arbiter for longtime game show letter rounds

« It certainly wasn’t the career path I had deliberately chosen, and I’m naturally the type of person who likes to fly under the radar, » she told Buzz Magazine

Speaking to Female First, Susie added: « I was working at Oxford University Press and my boss asked me if I wanted to audition for Countdown and I said no twice because I was too nervous to appear on TV

« Then he said I really had to go out there and do it, which meant I had no choice and had to do it! »

The Channel 4 sensation concluded: « Looking back at that first appearance is now so embarrassing because I look so nervous, sitting next to Rula Lenska in Dictionary Corner, who had a lot of hair. redhead so I just tried to hide behind her «

Susie later said how « weird » it was that she had been on the show for almost three decades

« Embarrassed! It’s weird that I’ve been on this show for so long, » she shared

« I started in 1992 and never imagined I would do it again now, but this is a unique TV show »
