The government announced the new tiered system on October 12, but questions remain as to whether Lancashire will upgrade to tier 3 in the near future There has also been a debate on whether parts of Lancashire could be placed under different levels
The biggest change right now is that groups of up to six people from different households are now allowed to mingle again (albeit socially distant), in private gardens and outdoor public spaces – like the beach or the park – which is actually a relaxation of previous restrictions for the Lancaster District
However, meeting up to six people from different households is no longer allowed in indoor spaces such as pubs, restaurants and cafes in Lancaster District and the County at large
Groups of a maximum of six people are however allowed to meet in a beer garden or other hotel establishment with outdoor space
Overnight stays by individual households in hotels or holiday accommodation are also authorized subject to social contact rules
In principle, you can still travel in high alert areas to hotels and other accommodation, but you should only do so with members of your household or a support bubble
You can still go on vacation outside of the high alert areas, but you should only do so with people from your household or from the help bubble
Organized sport and licensed physical activity are still allowed in outdoor environments, and indoor sports must follow the rules of social contact
People are still allowed to go to open places, but should reduce the number of trips where possible
In terms of childcare, supervised activities are authorized in private homes, as are childcare bubbles for children under 14
Places of worship are open subject to rules relating to social contact, activities and clubs for young people are allowed, and recreation centers and gymnasiums are open
To put high alert restrictions into perspective, here is what is allowed in areas with medium alert:
You should not socialize in groups of more than 6 people, indoors or outdoors (except where a legal exemption applies)
Businesses and sites can continue to operate, secured by COVID, except those that remain closed by law
Some businesses are required to ensure that customers only consume food and drinks while seated and must close between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Businesses and places that sell food for consumption off premises may continue to do so after 10 p.m., provided this is done through a delivery service, pick-up service per click or drive-thru
Exercise classes and organized sport can continue to take place outdoors or indoors if the rule of 6 is followed
