The bombers are based at RAF Fairford and recently returned from a mission in the East Siberian Sea

The trio flew over central Gloucester, heading for Hartpury, Ashleworth and Tewkesbury, before returning to Up Hatherley, Shurdington, Brockworth Hucclecote and Barnwood

Two of the planes were Boeing B-52 Stratofortresses, with identities BALOO51 and BALOO52 Both were flying at an altitude of over 9,000 feet

Currently there are six US Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bombers based at RAF Fairford, Cotswolds

The mission was designed to reassure US allies and partners and deter attacks from any potential «  bad actors  » in the region

Following the mission, General Tod D Wolters, Commander of US European Command, said: “Today’s Bomber Task Force operation is yet another demonstration of our unwavering commitment to the Allies and our partners and our collective ability to plan, execute and coordinate multiple complex missions at high speed
