Vivianne Miedema set a new women’s Super League goal record with a hat-trick in Arsenal’s 6-1 beating against north London rivals Tottenham

The Dutch striker’s three goals brought it to 52, breaking the mark she previously shared with England and Lyon striker Nikita Parris

Arsenal had three goals in 15 minutes thanks to goals from Katie McCabe, Miedema and Caitlin Foord

Miedema, who was only making his 50th Super League appearance, completed his hat-trick before half-time, and Foord added a sixth after the break to keep the Gunners’ perfect start to the season alive

Spurs, who also missed a penalty, had to wait until the 76th minute for consolation, when Lucia Leon was on target

Arsenal are now clear at the top after Everton’s 100% record ended in a 2-2 draw with Brighton

Rikke Sevecke’s self-owning goal put Brighton ahead, but Everton turned the game around with deflected effort from Izzy Christiansen and a header from French striker Valerie Gauvin

That didn’t prove to be enough, however, with Alieen Whelan scoring a point for Brighton with 12 minutes remaining

Alessia Russo scored twice as Manchester United beat West Ham 4-2 to continue their undefeated start to the season and leave their opponents still looking for a first win

USA international Tobin Heath doubled United’s lead in the 23rd minute with his first goal for the club after Russo opened the scoring

Emily Van Egmond pulled one off for West Ham in the 39th minute, but Russo restored United’s advantage before half-time

Rachel Daly’s looping cross beat Mary Earps as the Hammers found another seven minutes to go, but Christen Press calmed United’s nerves with a fourth to secure the points

Manchester City were unable to bounce back from last week’s loss to Chelsea as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Reading

The home side quickly took the lead at Madejski Stadium when Amalie Eikeland returned home City equalized in the 56th minute thanks to Sam Mewis but couldn’t find a winner

Claudia Walker’s long-range effort helped Birmingham secure 4-0 win over Bristol City

Rachel Corsie opened the scoring with her first Birmingham goal and Mollie Green then followed suit to make it 2-0 at halftime

Walker then added a third with a curling shot and Christie Murray caught the fourth from the penalty spot while, to add to Bristol’s miserable day, Aimee Palmer needed some oxygen after suffering a serious injury
