A former ballerina was portrayed with dementia in a movie that was taken to a show she gave decades earlier, where she recalls the choreography she danced on Swan Lake
A charity has now shared the video, which went viral, of Mrs. Gonzalez who was a Prima ballet dancer with the New York Ballet in the 1960s.
The clip shows Marta C Gonzalez, who died in 2019, listening to Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake – which she danced in her youth.
This emotional moment was shared by Asociacion Musica para Despertar, a Spanish charity that uses life music for dementia patients to improve their mood and memory.
In the video, Mrs. Gonzalez becomes emotional when she listens to Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake song – before reenacting some of the dances she danced in her youth.
Actor Antonio Banderas shared the clip on Facebook and wrote that he hoped the video was a « well-deserved appreciation for her art and passion. »

At the end of the show, applause erupted in the nursing home where she was staying in Valencia
The charity praised the « countless » power of music and wished it « rest in peace. »

The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra then recorded an orchestral arrangement to accompany Mr. Harvey’s performance – creating an incredibly moving piece intended to demonstrate the healing power of the music.
