Bryson DeChambeau completed one of the most impressive golf drives ever attempted in golf in the third round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Saturday.
The mastermind of the sport had been talking about the corner all week before the tournament of the sixth hole with par 5. Although he tried it twice during the practice laps, the weather conditions on Thursday and Friday prevented him from trying when it mattered most.
With a little breeze in his back on Saturday, during the third lap, DeChambeau took aim right across the lake and put a perfect swing on the ball. He started his drive 370 yards and to the right of the green, leaving only 68 yards to the left of the pin for his second shot on the par-five. No other player came close to that mark and DeChambeau went on to make birdie.
The feat is the latest success of the 27-year-old, who continues to be known for his willingness to push the limits of golf. DeChambeau has given the sport a unique, punchy flair that conflicts with some of the more traditional notions of golf. However, it gets a lot of attention and support from the majority of the audience.
Golf fans were thrilled with driving the 555-yard sixth hole on Saturday and were hoping DeChambeau would try again on Sunday.

DeChambeau is exactly right in the mix that goes into Sunday because of his drive on the sixth, but also for a strong rest of the lap. The 27-year-old will be in the final pairing with Lee Westwood, just one shot behind the former world number one. A handful of other top players, including Jordan Speith and Rory McIlroy, are just a few strokes away from the lead for a thrilling finish.
Time will tell if DeChambeau will go on the moon shot ride again on Sunday. If he does, golf fans will surely tune in, which is great news for the sport of the future.
