A devastated couple could not marry after the floods trapped the bride in their farmhouse.

Residents along a 1200 km stretch of coast are warned to remain vigilant as " life-threatening " Heavy rain shows no signs of slowing down.

A bride was devastated after flooding trapped her in a riverside farmhouse and separated her from her fiancé on her wedding day.

Taree nurse Anya Kerrigen and her fiancé James Farrawell was due to get married on Saturday after saving three years for her dream wedding.

But the bride and roughly 27 members of her family and friends are trapped in a quaint riverside farmhouse at their wedding venue, while the groom and his groomsmen are just a 50 minute drive away in Taree and unable to join them due to road closures after the Manning River flooded.

The groom’s brother, Daniel Farrawell, told news.com.au that Family members including grandparents who would have spent the night in glamping tents and a farmhouse.

« The groom has been trying to marry the bride for years, and between COVID and this flood shows that the best things in life are not always easy, « said Farrawell.

Mr Farrawell said people had come from all over Australia for the wedding and found this morning that the ceremony could not take place, that the bride was “devastated” and the groom “crushed”.

« You can’t put your hopes and dreams in a wedding and shed a tear when it falls apart in front of you, » he said.

« With the devastation along the central north coast, our only concern now is that everyone is safe. »

Mr Farrawell said the groomsmen went to the Manning River this morning, which flows past Taree.

« It’s strange, the sun is shining, but there are houses and sheds that flood the Manning River float past us, « he said.
