Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda was inducted into the star-studded cast for the inauguration of Joe Biden.
The composer and lyricist will recite a classical work during the event on Wednesday.
Former basketball player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA’s all-time top scorer, Chef Jose Andres, and Kim Ng, the first female leader of an MLB baseball team, were also included.
You will attend the ceremony along with musicians such as Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato and John Legend.
Lady Gaga will sing the national anthem while Mr Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are sworn in. Jennifer Lopez is also giving a musical performance.
Later that day, Tom Hanks will host a 90-minute prime-time TV special celebrating Mr. Biden’s inauguration.
Meanwhile, Mr Biden’s new chief of staff has stated that in his first few hours as president he will take action to roll back some of his predecessor’s most controversial decisions and address the raging coronavirus pandemic. The opening salvo would usher in a ten day flash of executive action as Mr Biden tries to act quickly to divert the country into Donald Trump’s presidency without waiting for Congress.
On the Wednesday after his inauguration, Mr Biden will end Mr Trump’s immigration restrictions to the US from some Muslim-majority countries, rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement, and mandate the wearing of masks on federal properties and while traveling between states.
These are roughly a dozen actions Mr Biden will take on his first day at the White House, his new chief of staff Ron Klain said in a memo to senior officials. Other measures include extending the hiatus on student loan payments and preventing evictions and foreclosures for those struggling during the pandemic.
« These executive actions will bring relief to the millions of Americans who are grappling with these crises, » Klain said in the memo.
« President-elect Biden will take action – not only to undo the most serious damage done to the Trump administration – but also to move our country forward. »
