Lane Kiffin’s second season at Ole Miss will feature one-of-a-kind matchups, including the return of a former Ole Miss coach.

The Rebels released their full football schedule for 2021 on Wednesday, and one of the most intriguing games on the schedule no other Southeastern Conference team is involved.

The Liberty University Flames will come to Oxford on November 6th, marking Hugh Freeze’s return to Ole Miss for the first time in more than four years. Freeze abruptly resigned as rebel head coach in the summer of 2017 after former athletics director Ross Bjork cited a « pattern of personal misconduct » that included calls to an escort service on his school-provided cell phone.

Freeze was launched in December 2019 hired as the new head coach of the Flames and has set an 18-6 record in his first two seasons at Liberty. The Flames went 10: 1 in 2020 and were rated for the first time in program history. They defeated No. 9 Coastal Carolina, 37-34, in overtime to the Cure Bowl in Orlando on December 26.

The Rebels begin the 2021 season with a trip to Atlanta on September 6 in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium to play in one of two Chick-Fil-A-Kickoff games against Louisville. Alabama and Miami play the other game on September 4th.

Ole Miss’ remaining non-conference games include the home game against Austin Peay on September 11th and Tulane on September 18th.

The Southeastern part Conference on the rebels’ schedule begins with a trip to Tuscaloosa to play against Alabama on October 2nd. Other SEC games on the road include Tennessee, which marks Kiffin’s return to Knoxville on October 16, and Auburn (October 30). For a second year in a row, the eggshell will not be played on Thanksgiving. The Rebels will travel to Starkville to end the regular season against the state of Mississippi on November 27.

SEC home games include Arkansas on October 9, LSU (October 23), Texas A&M (December 13). November) and Vanderbilt (November 20th).
