A kangaroo got lucky after falling into roaring floods as wild storms continued to hit New South Wales.

Jenny Farrrell filmed the pouring rain on Friday outside her home in Lansdowne on the central north coast of the state when she suddenly spotted the animal jumping into the water.

Within seconds, the kangaroo was being pushed down the rapids as it tried desperately to jump onto the nearby land .

Luckily for the kangaroo, it managed to pull itself out of the water, jump into the grass, and jump away – much to the relief of the worried homeowner.

A potentially life-threatening downpour that flooded rivers and evacuated along the coast of New South Wales has now found its way to Sydney. Residents are encouraged to stay indoors.

The poor kangaroo is seen trapped in the rapids before it luckily escaped and jumped onto the nearby land.

The BoM issued a severe weather warning Saturday morning covering an area from the central north coast to the extreme south coast of NSW as well as Canberra.

The office warned of strong Rainfalls that could potentially lead to life threatening flash floods and noxious winds with an average speed of 60 to 70 km / h and gusts of more than 90 km / h.

« Get ready, NSW, heavier rain, dangerous Floods and thunderstorms are on their way, « tweeted NSW SES on Saturday morning.

SES crews undertook at least 57 flood rescues and responded to more than 1,300 calls for help a dozen rivers along the NSW coast have been flooded.

Sydneysiders have been urged to stay indoors as the rain is unlikely to subside anytime soon.

Residents in lower-lying areas in Port Macquarie and Kempsey have been evacuated while those in Tarees CBD, Taree Estate, Dumaresq Island and Cundletown have now been asked to leave the country.
