World news – INTENSE RAINFALL: Wet weather to whip Bundy, Fraser Coast

The latest weather update from BoM states that intense rainfall can lead to dangerous and life threatening flash floods.

A new update from the Bureau of Meteorology predicts intense rainfall that can lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash floods in communities east of Bundaberg.

A subtropical low off the Capricornia coast is predicted to combine with a strong low in the upper plain and deepen as it moves south towards the waters of Hervey Bay.

It is then expected to take a trail south to southeast early Monday morning and move offshore around Rainbow Beach or Noosa Heads during the day.

Heavy rainfall, which can cause flash floods, is likely to develop in areas between Seventeen Seventy and the Sunshine Coast later this evening and through Monday.

Heavy rains, which can lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash floods and damaging gusts of around 90 km / h, are possible later this evening and through Monday in communities east of Bundaberg, Maryborough and Noosa Heads.

Dangerous surf is likely to develop on the Fraser Coast tonight, stretching south to the Sunshine Coast on Monday morning and to the Moreton Bay Islands later in the day.

A flood watch is currently on duty for coastal basins south of St. Lawrence that extend inland to the Darling Downs.

Locations that may be affected include Bundaberg, Fraser Island, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Nambour, Rainbow Beach, Tiaro, Noosa Heads, Sunshine Coast, Moreton Island, and Stradbroke Islands.
