World news – ISL 2020-21 highlights, semi-final 2nd leg, MCFC VS FCG (Agg. 2-2): Mumbai into the final after 6-5 victory on penalties

ISL 2020-21 Playoffs, FCG versus MCFC: Mumbai City FC defeated FC Goa 6: 5 and reached the final at the GMC Stadium Bambolim.

This is Sportstars ISL 2020-21 blog of the Mumbai City FC vs FC Goa game that will be played on Monday at the GMC Athletic Stadium.

That’s all we have for the night. We have a finalist and are moving to another semifinal with ATK Mohun Bagan against NorthEast United. [PREVIEW] Until then, it’s good night.

Sergio Lobera « I’m very proud and happy to reach the final. It is very special for me to play in the final. I have very good players and personalities in the dressing room. You deserve to enjoy this moment and hopefully win the trophy for the people.  » I wish them [FC Goa and Ferrando] the best in the Champions League. They played very well and anything is possible on penalties. When I worked in Spain, there are no penalties for ending up at the top of the table. I want to win the cup. [With goalkeeper change and no shots on goal] About Amrinder it was a decision of the coach. It was a brave decision by my coach Amrinder is the best goalkeeper in India, but Purba can do a good job on penalties. It was a very difficult game. We suffered in two legs because we didn’t have the ball.

Juan Ferrando « [Where did you lose?] In the end, congratulations to Mumbai. After two games they were very difficult opponents. We had chances, but we did not score. In the penalty shootout it’s a bingo. Naveen’s work was very good. Our time .. maybe pressure or fatigue .. Physically and mentally … But it is necessary to explain the player that was the first chapter a good job. [omit Angulo?] Because we start with 4-3-3. We had problems with wingers. They had a lot of free space. Ishan was a reference 3 as No. 9. We need more time for more players. So we bought Angulo in overtime to do 4-4-2. You can use a lot of plans with multiple combinations, but we’re out of the finals. I don’t know. [Plan for the next 5-6 months before the new one Season?] My focus is to rest 2-3 days and focus on the Champions L prepare eague. Football is very difficult to think about. We plan with the coaches and decide on ACL for the preseason. This is important for FC Goa and Indian football. «

The seventh edition of the Indian Super League began on November 20th in an organic bubble in Goa.

During the four-month tournament, eleven teams will play against each other in a league and playoff format at three venues. After the inclusion of SC East Bengal, 115 games will be played this season, compared to 95 last season.

With a 2-2 draw, FC Mumbai City will meet on Monday in the second leg of the first semi-final of the Indian Super League 2020 / 21 in Bambolim to FC Goa.

The team that is ahead in the GMC Stadium will secure a place in the ISL 2020-21 final and has the chance to win a place in the AFC Cup – Qualification 2022, which will be awarded to the winner of the playoffs.

MCFC came from behind twice to deny FCG the advantage in the draw on Friday at Fatorda Stadium. The islanders, who are known to dominate their opponents from the start, had problems early in the first leg.

Although his team did not start the previous game as he would have liked, head coach Sergio Lobera is head coach not too worried, especially because Mumbai won a tight league title a few days ago.

« I don’t feel any pressure and neither do the players. It was a great season and we achieved something very important. We want to enjoy the playoffs and win another trophy. We are very excited and happy to be playing this way.  » of games, « he said during a virtual press conference.

In the meantime, Lobera’s counterpart Juan Ferrando has several injury concerns. Seriton Fernandes and Princeton Rebello were both sent off on the last outing. With Brandon Fernandes already out, the Gaurs could A little too few Indian options.

« In the last game we had a lot of (injury) problems, but it’s normal. The players are very tired. This season has been very difficult. In such a case we make difficult decisions and sometimes we succeed, sometimes we attract. « It is necessary to take risks, » said Ferrando.

« It is important to choose the best possible line-up for an important game. It is difficult because we choose a style of play. If a player is injured, a new plan has to be made, « added the FCG coach.

Rebellos injury was on a two-foot challenge by MCFC center-back Mourtada Fall attributed to Margao during stoppage time in the second half. Ferrando compared Fall’s challenge to a taekwondo parade, and Lobera hit back on his enemy.

« Speaking of autumn: if someone says they had bad intentions during the duel, they don’t know them. Me don’t like people trying to provoke my players. If you want to compare then I can say that Edu Bedia (Goa captain) bit Deepak Tangri (in Chennaiyin FC’s game) and he’s still playing.

« At the end of the last game, some people spoke to the match commissioner. I don’t like people crying all the time. On the pitch we have to respect all the people and try to help the referees and other officials. « claimed the Mumbai boss.

The away goals rule has been abolished this season. If the second leg also ends at Levels, the teams go into overtime and, if necessary, into penalties.

Ferrando spoke about the unpredictability of one Shooting and said: « Of course we prepared for penalties because it is necessary, but I hope we don’t need penalties in the end. Because punishment is also about luck. «

After the return of the suspended Amey Ranawade, the islanders finally have a full squad available.

FC Mumbai City: Amrinder Singh, Nishit Shetty, Vikram Lahkbir Singh, Phurba Lachenpa, Mourtada Fall (Senegal), Mandar Rao Dessai, Tondonba Singh, Amey Ranawade, Mohammad Rakip, Mehtab Singh, Valpuia, Ahmed Jahouh (Morocco), Rowllin Borges, Bidyananda Singh, Cy Goddard (Japan), Raynier Fernandes, Hugo Boumous ( France), Jackichand Singh, Hernan Santana (Spain), Asif Khan, Bipin Singh, Vikram Pratap Singh, Vignesh Dakshinamurthy, Bartholomäus Ogbeche (Nigeria), Pranjal Bhumij, Adam Le Fondre (England).
