Bambolim: A goal by Rahul KP in stoppage time gave Kerala Blasters a dramatic comeback in an Indian Super League game on Wednesday with 2-1 against Bengaluru FC.

An acrobatic attempt by Cleiton Silva (24. ) in the first half gave Bengaluru the lead before substitute Lalthathanga Khawlhring equalized (73rd) for Kerala Blasters.

The game seemed to be heading for a draw before Rahul put in a brilliant individual performance in added time.

Although the men of Kibu Vicuna got into the game better, they missed the last ball and were immediately punished by Bengaluru, who scored against the course of the game.

Kerala had their first clear chance in the 18th minute when Jordan Murray’s shot from the penalty area went over the crossbar. Minutes later, Sahal Abdul Samad’s threatened run into the box came to nothing.

Bengaluru immediately punished them for not making the most of their opportunities. Rahul Bheke’s long throw from the right was not treated properly by the Kerala defense and fell to Cleiton, whose acrobatic volley gave Kerala keeper Albino Gomes no chance.

Bengaluru had the chance to double the lead at halftime as Costa Nhamoinesu Sunil Chhetri spotted just outside the box. The resulting free kick was taken by Chhetri and seemed to come into play, but Albino saved great.

Kerala had a chance in the second half when Juanan defeated Lalthathanga right outside the box. Lalthathanga took the free kick himself, but only managed to hit it directly against the wall.

He made it up, albeit under controversial circumstances. Bengaluru goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu fell after blocking a powerful shot from Gary Hooper from close range.

With Gurpreet still on the ground, Sandeep Singh fired the ball back into the box. After a close fight, the ball finally broke for Lalthathanga, who scored the equalizer.

After that, both teams pushed hard for the winner, got free kicks from threatening positions, but finally came to nothing.

Bengaluru almost scored, when substitute Leon Augustin came into goal with no mistakes in stoppage time. However, he failed to get the ball past the onrushing albino.

There was still time for a late winner, however. After Bengaluru hit the post, Rahul sprinted into half of Bengaluru in a quick counterattack from Kerala. Instead of trying to find a teammate, he shot himself and beat Gurpreet for a dramatic winner.
