TOKYO (Reuters) – A Japanese Air Force officer and a US Air Force pilot were killed in a crash in Alabama, the Japanese Air Force said in self-defense on Saturday.
The Japanese lieutenant and the US instructor crashed on Saturday around 8 a.m. Japanese time (5 p.m. CST, 2300 GMT on Friday) when their T-38 was about to land at Montgomery Airport, the Japanese force said in a statement.
The lieutenant learned maneuvers and Other skills in the U.S. Air Force curriculum to become a fighter pilot, Japanese public broadcaster NHK said, citing Defense Department sources.
