World news – Joakim Noah is retiring after 13 years in the NBA

Last December, the Veterans Center was closed by the Los Angeles Clippers and has not been signed since. In the 2007 NBA Draft Class, Noah was number 9 overall, selected by the Chicago Bulls. Since then, the Florida basketball star has spent nine of his 13 seasons with the team. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports Noah is about to retire as a bull.

Noah has been out since his five games with the Los Angeles Clippers last season with an Achilles injury he sustained in September 2019 , no longer played. He had originally rejoined the team on a 10-day contract before the league postponed the rest of the season. He was back with the Clippers in August, but was unfortunately canceled towards the end of the year. This is said to have prompted the center to consider retirement.

The French-American was named defensive player in the league and all-NBA in 2013/14. As a three-time all-defensive player, the center spent two seasons with the New York Knicks and one with the Memphis Grizzlies. Due to persistent injuries, Noah was also waved by the Knicks and Grizzlies.

Noah’s agent Bill Duffy issued a statement describing Noah’s career: “What an illustrious career for Joakim, from two national titles at the University of Florida to NBA Defensive Player of the Year and eventually one the most passionate and spirited players ever to come through our sport. I am honored to represent Joakim on his journey.  »

13-year-old NBA center Joakim Noah – a two-time All-Star and Former Defensive Player of the Year – is effectively retiring from basketball, according to @TheAthletic @Stadium.
