ORLANDO, Florida – When Jordan Spieth got off to a scorching start at Bay Hill on Saturday, his playing competitor Justin Rose was still not warmed up.
Rose started the third round at 5 p.m. under and only four shots from removed from the tour at the Arnold Palmer Invitational but said he woke up Saturday morning with some previous problems. When Spieth started his day as a birdie ace and then staged an unreal par save on the third hole, Rose worked.
The Englishman put three balls in third place in the water, did a five-way bogey 9 and then withdrew before completing four holes.
« Disappointing to have WD, » said Rose. « It’s been an exciting week playing in front of fans and of course a pretty visible WD playing with Jordan out there … I just woke up a little bit today with some kind of lower back cramp trying to do something mine Warming up was hard work and I just couldn’t stay down in one shot. I basically missed every golf shot that was left to start the day, even my little chip in the fourth hole from the rough on The Left Side caused pain.
« And looking to the next week and what do you have? I felt it was a prudent call just to name it at this point. But I felt bad when Jordan got the momentum to change and change the mood of the group. « . »
