The actress, nominated for Best Actress, Comedy or Musical, for her role in Sia’s « Music » has sparked controversy because she plays the sister of a girl with autism.
Host Tina Fey quipped during the awards ceremony monologue that Hudson’s involvement in the film was « the most insulting casting since Kate Hudson spokesperson for Weight Watchers. »
The hurricane of outrage continued online as the official Globes Instagram account posted pictures of Hudson, 41, preparing to present an award.
« She didn’t deserve a nomination. She allowed herself to be detrimental in this enduring film, « said user quinnkrystal420.
And jane_xenite said, » Well, we all know who isn’t going to win and who isn’t, and it’s Kate Hudson. « </ Autism advocates have particularly looked at the stereotypical performance of actress Maddie Ziegler as the main character, and Hudson's character uses a much-discussed technique called "restraint" to calm her sister down during the film.
Despite the backlash, who forced Sia to delete her Twitter account, Hudson was still on TV. She told presenter Jane Lynch that she loved making the film.
« As an actress, singer and dancer, it’s all you want to experience, » said Hudson.
