World news – Keith Hackett is furious about the referee’s lack of competence

After another ridiculous VAR decision during the week that is so bad it will change the handball law, the officials in the top tier of English football have come under the spotlight.

The men have been in for far too long the middle and now those in Stockley Park who run the VAR are way below average.

« […] The problem is that some things are open to different interpretations. If you don’t have a clear definition of what handball is, you will make different decisions from week to week.

“And when you add that to the fact that there is a game almost every night at the moment, it becomes more and more difficult .

« The current schedule doesn’t allow for much recovery time, so fatigue, injury and mental fatigue come into play for both players and officials.

» I’ve seen former referees and experts demonstrate the competence of the current officials have questioned what is sad and disappointing. «

» The facts are that £ 21 million annually is spent providing world class match officers to play in the Premier League, Championship and League 1 & 2, « Hackett told CaughtOffside.

» While the game schedule is demanding, unlike the umpires, today’s umpires have to my time that finished a game and then had to drive hundreds of miles home and go to work the next morning, time to recover in time for their next appointment.

« Let’s be honest, PGMOL has VAR completely mixed up. Delay the introduction first, then stop using a pitch-side monitor and start drawing lines to ridicule offside decisions.

« The PGMOL just needs to get rid of the offside lines and improve communication with the spectators.

« Then let the man in charge of VAR, Greg Barkey of PRO, the professional arbitrators in America, do some workshops for the PGMOL.

» By the way, they don’t line up when they check offside, and VAR – Disruptions currently only occur once in three games in MLS. «

How Probert, even with the best of intentions, can support his former employers after making mistake for mistake this season is unclear.
