Kid Cudi nodded to Kurt Cobain – and caused a stir on social media – with bold and touching clothes for this week’s Saturday Night Live.
The 37-year-old rapper rocked a maxi sundress with spaghetti straps in one place and a wrinkled green cardigan in another while performing songs from his latest album on the NBC sketch show.
Each was a clear homage to the late Nirvana frontman, who died of suicide on April 5, 1994 at the age of 27.
“Kid Cudi pays the ultimate Kurt Cobain tribute the week of his death to #SNL. @KidCudi is all about love and suicide prevention and awareness !!! “Tweeted a fan.
The grunge legend wore a floral dress on the cover of the now defunct British magazine The Face from 1993 a year before his death.
Cudi wore the tribute sweater for his first performance of Night and paired it with a t-shirt honoring former “SNL” actor Chris Farley, who died of a drug overdose in 1997 at the age of 33.
« Kid Cudi tapped our subconscious well tonight and one green mohair cardigan rocked like Kurt. The Farley Headshot Tee was also a nice touch. #SNL, « wrote a viewer on Twitter.
