CHENNAI: Pat Cummins is a huge Shubman Gill fan and said he likes the way the young Indian batsman stays relaxed while playing.

« He’s good, he is young. He wants to take over the game and is really relaxed, « said the Australian star pacer in a KKR Instagram Live ahead of the IPL opening game against Sunrisers Hyderabad here on Sunday.

» He takes cricket or life not too serious. So it’s fun to be with him, « added the world’s best test pacer and welcomed the Indian youngster when the duo would play together months after their exciting duel in the Test Series Down Under.

The 21-year-old was one of the architects of India’s epic test series that won Down Under on its debut.

Gill counterattacked 91 in the second innings of the fourth and final Test in Brisbane, bringing down India’s epic chase of 328 the Gabba on the way to their 2-1 triumph solved.

« I get on really well with Shubman. It was a great debut for him last summer in Australia. We had some good competitions in the field. I’m really excited for him, he’s had a great start to his testing career, « said Cummins said.

Amid COVID-19 fears, IPL will follow a caravan format and for the first time, franchises will become home advantage withdrawn because KKR would miss playing in the legendary Eden Gardens.

« I’m just looking forward to playing for you this season. I know unfortunately we won’t come to Kolkata and see you in person, but yeah, give us all the love on social media.

« We see everything and we absolutely love it and we will do our best for you, so stay with us and hopefully see you soon, « said Cummins in a message to fans.
