K-pop star Sowon, a member of the popular all-girl group GFriend, is reportedly under fire for posing with a mannequin in Nazi uniform.
The 25-year-old performer, with Real name Kim So-Jung, has since published deleted photos on Instagram that show how she stands lovingly next to the mannequin. According to a report by the Independent, the group’s record label had to apologize on Monday.
« We sincerely apologize for the problems caused by video clips taken from the background footage of GFriend’s comeback show, as well as photos taken by GFriend- Member Sowon, « said a statement from Source Music.
» We apologize for not realizing prior to shooting that there were inappropriate props on the [premises], that we failed to do so have to carefully check the footage and photos before uploading and that we were not adequately informed about issues with enormous historical and social implications, ”it said.
The company went on to say that Sowon felt « a deep sense of responsibility and regret » for posting the images – which they « immediately deleted ».
The images were from a video shoot and were made in December with behind-the-scenes clips and posted on Instagram on Sunday, the Independent said.
GFriend, a group of six formed in 2015, has released four studio albums and, according to Sun, completed two tours in Asia with great success.
