The Brooklyn Nets, winners of eight straight games against the Dallas Mavericks at the Barclays Center on Saturday, continue to climb the overall standings despite the absence of Kevin Durant, whose sustained hamstring injury brought him on Saturday Seventh game in a row.
Against the Mavs, the Nets must try to keep their winning streak alive without another member of their Big Three – Kyrie Irving. The Nets star has been disqualified from the game for recovery of a right shoulder injury.
As Irving’s absenteeism continues to grow – Saturday’s game marks his eleventh missed game of the season – the chances of missing a game bonus on his contract are increasing .
According to ESPN Marks Front Office Insider Bobby Marks, Irving’s game bonus has been split from 70 to 61 games this season to account for the NBA season shortening from 82 to 72 games.
Irving has the bonus missed last year for the shoulder injury that cost him most of the season, and according to Marks, there is a risk he will miss the $ 131,250 bonus again if he is inactive for two more games after Saturday.

Still, that amount is a drop in the ocean for a star amid a four-year $ 136,490,600 deal whose career profit is already over $ 230 million, according to spotrac.com.

According to Marks, there are a number of other bonuses in Irving’s contract and he’s well on his way to getting most of them in this season. The 28-year-old security guard, who is heading to Atlanta for his seventh All-Star game this weekend, averages 27.4 points, 5.9 assists and 4.7 rebounds.
Irving also has additional statistical bonuses from $ 131,250 for attempted free throws, fouls per game, revenue per game, percentage of free throws, and offensive and defensive scores. He tends to be likely for any bonus except personal fouls and per-game free-throw attempts.
Durant, Irving’s teammate, has a $ 1 million bonus when the nets move into the postseason, according to Marks. Fortunately for Durant, this bonus is not tied to games played. In fact, he earned the bonus last season despite not playing in a game for the nets.
