Due to COVID-19, the swearing-in was slightly different than in previous years, but lawmakers – all three local incumbents who retained their seats in the November election – took the oath.

MP Tina Davis, a Democrat from the Bristol Township, said she would focus her term on economic development and opportunity, job creation, equal pay, property tax reform and programs to help families, seniors and veterans . Davis, entering her sixth term, will serve her first term as secretary of the House Democratic Caucus. « I am honored that the residents of the 141st Ward have again selected me as their attorney in Harrisburg, » said Davis. “I will use my vast legislative experience to find the bipartisan solutions needed to address the unprecedented crisis posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. My time in the house taught me that all Pennsylvanians benefit when lawmakers come together to address a problem. “

The 141st Legislative District includes all of Hulmeville Borough and Penndel Borough, as well as parts of Bristol Township and Middletown Township.

Langhorne Republican Frank Farry took office for his sixth term.

Yesterday I was sworn in as state representative for the 142nd house district. Thank you voters for your support, and I really appreciate the efforts of everyone who volunteered, contributed, and / or put up an advertising sign. As a lifelong resident of our ward, it is a great honor to represent you again in Harrisburg.

This year, the swearing-in ceremony was held in groups to limit the number of people on the floor of the house. Our families weren’t allowed to join us on the floor, but I was able to schedule a few private minutes to get my family down to the floor for some quick photos. I appreciate my family’s understanding of the demands of this job and the support they offer me.

Our swearing in was overshadowed by the sudden death of my colleague and friend Mike Reese that weekend. Mike was a good and honest man and our thoughts are with Mike’s family.

The 142nd legislative district includes all of Langhorne Borough, Langhorne Manor Borough, Lower Southampton and Upper Southampton, and much of Middletown Borough.

Rep. John Galloway, a Falls Township Democrat, began his eighth term in Harrisburg.

Galloway, the minority chairman of the House Commerce Committee, said he would focus on economic development and job creation. COVID-19 relief; Increasing resources for mental health and addiction; Improving education; and creating a clean water infrastructure in his new term.

« I am grateful to serve the people of District 140 in this unprecedented crisis, » said Galloway. “I will continue to use my skills, legislative and business experience, and local and Harrisburg connections to help our community get the resources it needs to deal with the pandemic. I am here for you, my neighbor. Don’t hesitate to ask for help. «

The 140th legislative division includes the entire borough of Bristol, Falls Parish, Tullytown Parish, and parts of Bristol Parish, Middletown Parish and Morrisville Parish.
