It’s been a fearful night for thousands of people across NSW , as evacuation orders remain in place for much of Sydney’s west and the waters continue to flood regional areas.

Authorities warn that the rain will hit the state for a few more days as two weather systems collide tonight.

If the wild weather affects your home, you can contact the SES for help by calling 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies, call 000, but SES can help with: The closings affect both public and independent schools in parts of northern NSW, Hunter, Central Coast and western Sydney.

Transportation for NSW has encouraged customers to work from home whenever possible to avoid congestion on the network.

Some bus services in the Hawkesbury, Penrith and Blacktown areas are no longer operating today due to the flooding.

Now let’s look north. There is still an active evacuation order for Kempsey CBD (it was first issued two days ago) and the large rain cell over the area did not help last night. As of 9:00 a.m. yesterday, Kempsey has received roughly 177mm.

« All of the rain falls on a fully saturated drainage basin that will drain into river systems so we may see the river rise in the next few days, » he said. </ This morning, major flooding is possible along the Macleay River in Kempsey and Smithtown, and the Hastings River peaks at Settlement Point, but slowly drops off in Wauchope.
