World news – Luka Doncic’s dominance leads Mavericks past Trae Young, Hawks

The Dallas Mavericks won a 122-116 win against the Atlanta Hawks at the State Farm Arena on Wednesday.

The 9-13 Mavs broke a streak of six losses, thanks in part to the 27 points, 14 assists and eight rebounds from point guard Luka Doncic. Kristaps Porzingis added 24 points and 11 rebounds.

The 10-11 Hawks lost their second game in a row despite a 35-point-12 rebound attempt by the great man John Collins. Trae Young and Kevin Huerter each scored 21 points and together made 19 assists.

Dallas led by up to 15 points in the fourth quarter, but Atlanta cut the deficit twice to three in the last minute after a couple of Young buckets. </ However, Dallas made enough free throws on the track to hold the Hawks off and seal the much-needed win.

It’s been an unusually ugly season for the Mavs, who play four games under 500 after last year’s playoffs. Injuries to numerous members of the rotation didn’t help, but the team’s most recent six-game skid was still surprising considering one of the league’s best players is running the show in Doncic.

On Wednesday, Doncic’s brilliance was Too big for Atlanta, and that ended the losing streak.

He turned the defense into an offensive early, stole the ball and found Josh Richardson for an easy two:

The superstar hit a three point on the half-time buzzer, to end the first two quarters with 17 points and bring Dallas to three:

Doncic set up a poster dunk for Porzingis when he got a theft, walked down the square, cut through the alley and found a cutting KP who finished the slam on Hawks center Clint Capela:

Doncic and the Mavs’ efforts allowed them to rise between 111 and 96 in the fourth game. Young, Collins and the Hawks didn’t make the rest of the game easy for Dallas to make the rest of the game, but the pillow the Mavs built in front of the home track enabled them to leave Atlanta with the win.

However, John Collins did everything he did and led all the players in scoring and rebounding.

His excellent relationship with Young continued to take shape as he finished point guard’s praise with two-handed slams:

Collins came in from a great distance Ride and knocked a three down from the top of the arch:

The ex-Wake Forest star reunited with Young in the fourth quarter, ending another praise for a quick slump:

As for Young, so the point guard continued to make three pointers off the path downtown, as in this shot from the second quarter:

Young, who was largely cold by the end of the game, almost led the Hawks to victory himself and a deep one Three hit to Atlanta within three z u draw:

In the meantime Huerter scored a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists. The silky smooth guard stopped some early bleeding after a run of 13-4 Mavs to start the game with that middle-distance shot on the way to 13 points and four assists in the first two quarters: Kev burned in the first half ! He leads the team with 13 points and 4 assists. 🔥

He even got into the praise game with Collins and found his teammate for a layup:

The Hawks ultimately stayed behind, but the future Atlanta is promising in large part thanks to that trio.

The Mavericks will host the Golden State Warriors for a two-game set at the American Airlines Center. The second matchup will take place on Saturday at 8:30 am.
