NEW DELHI: Delhi Capitals won two exciting talents in Manimaran Siddharth and Ripal Patel during the IPL mini auction on February 18th.

Siddharth, who plays domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu , had a fabulous 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final against Baroda, where he returned with numbers 4/20 to help his team claim a seven-wicket win. The slow left-arm orthodox bowler has taken 16 wickets in six games with an average of 6.81 in his T20 career.

Gujarat’s Ripal Patel put in a decent performance in the 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, scoring in five Play 145 runs. The right batsman has scored 191 runs in 11 games so far in his T20 career.

Siddharth, who made his T20 debut for Tamil Nadu in 2019, said he was keen to play under captain Shreyas Iyer and coach Ricky Ponting . « The Delhi Capitals were a really good team. DC finished second last season. Most of the players in the squad play for their respective international teams. I think it will be a very good opportunity for me to learn from great. » Player and I are very excited to play under Shreyas Iyer and coach Ricky Ponting, « he said in an official release of the franchise.

The Tamil Nadu bowler’s game of cricket began watching his father Manimaran play. Siddharth’s father played for Indonesia in the Hong Kong Super Sixes.

 » I moved to Indonesia a month after I was born in Chennai because my father worked there. I was in Indonesia for the first nine years of my life. My father played for the Indonesian team and played in the Hong Kong Super Sixes. This is how I developed an interest in cricket. When I started playing, I couldn’t bowl properly because I couldn’t bowl with a straight arm. Then my brother Bharat helped me bowl with one straight arm. So I’m grateful to my family for all of their support, « said the 22-year-old.

In the meantime, Ripal said he was looking forward to the network meetings as soon as the Delhi Capitals team gathers give to learn. I really want to learn from Shikhar Dhawan how he manages to keep a smile on his face no matter how difficult the situation is. As much as he has hit, he seems comfortable and not putting pressure on himself. I want to learn that, « he said.

Ripal revealed that Axar Patel, a Delhi Capitals team-mate, played the role of friend and leader on his young cricket journey.

 » I took part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019 didn’t do too well and was disappointed. I worked hard on my game for the next year and Axar Bhai was always there to encourage me and help me with my game and training. It helped. « I’m gaining confidence and am forming up in time for the 2021 season. I’m grateful to Axar Bhai for his unending support. He was delighted to know that DC picked me up, » added Ripal.
