Todd Marshall is fit and ready for the first round of the AFL season as he prepares for the clash between Port Adelaide and North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium this Sunday.

Becomes Deni Rams’ former junior active again after missing the 2021 AAMI Community Series clash against Adelaide earlier this month with a cheek injury.

The injury came during a training game against the Crows the week before, but Marshall said he did this weekend given permission to play.

I just had a small depressive fracture in my cheekbone after cutting off an elbow from Rory Sloane just below the eye.

Preseason has been good this year. I’ve had one of my better ones with not many interruptions so I hope I have a solid foundation for gaming now. «

Marshall will be looking to build on his best season since arriving in Port Adelaide in the 2016 National Draft.

Last year he made 14 games in his career, missing just five games with a broken thumb and shooting eleven Goals that were no more important than a memorable long-distance sealer against Geelong in the qualifying final.

« Obviously you want to play as many AFL games as you can every year and for me it’s about consistency, » he said.

I have to shorten the gap between my good and bad games and find that middle ground.

Hopefully I can mark a few more balls and score a few more goals and shorten the gap between my good and bad I’ll probably confuse it a bit between playing deeper and higher.

» I have been working on my running to get on the ground and play a little higher so I can get the ball and my feet skills within 50 but I will do whatever the team needs and when I need to. To be the one who creates a competition, I want to be the player who can.  »
