World news – Masahiro Tanaka is expected to miss three weeks with a calf injury

Observations from Friday’s 4-1 loss of Yankees spring training to the Orioles at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Chad Green and Darren O’Day were both effective, with O’Day being the only batsman and Green threw a goalless inning in the eighth.

Aroldis Chapman was booed as he walked off the hill after allowing three runs and throwing three wild pitches while taking out only one in the seventh. Aaron Boone said Chapman « pulled the ball, » something that needs to be addressed.

While the two starters who put the injury history Yankees into the rotation – Corey Kluber and Jameson Taillon – stayed healthy Masahiro Tanaka missed his first start at the Rakuten Golden Eagles with a right calf injury. The 32-year-old is expected to miss three weeks.

The Yankees face the Blue Jays at 1:05 pm, and Jhoulys Chacin is set to take the hill. Taillon will be performing live punching exercises at the Player Development Complex.
