Garcia will be very confident of getting into this game, but she has to be able to underpin that confidence when she faces one of the toughest players on the WTA Tour in Simona Halep. How will the French fare with the types of balls that Simona Halep will send in the second round?
This will be the 7th meeting between the two players, with Simona Halep playing the head-to-head game with 5 : 1 leads. This will be a very interesting game as both players are very strong competitors. Ultimately, however, I don’t see Simona Halep lose that early here in Miami. Halep is a former world number 1, multiple Grand Slam champion, and she will aim to build on her momentum by winning the Miami Open in 2021.
