The 2021 Masters is just around the corner and the excitement can hardly be contained. The first male major of the year is also the most prestigious. Many players are looking forward to Augusta this year, including debutant Robert MacIntyre!
MacIntyre rose to fame on the PGA Tour with a number of good displays in recent events. He did particularly well at the WGC-Dell Match Play event, finishing ninth at the Austin Country Club.
This solid finish enabled Robert MacIntyre to maintain his place in the top 50 of the official golf world rankings. As a result, the Scottish golfer is now eligible to compete in his first Masters tournament and he signed up for it quickly!
Every avid golfer dreams of playing in the Masters. Robert MacIntyre also pursued the same vision and can now say that he succeeded. He’s played in the other three major tournaments in the past, but the Masters was the only event left off the list.
« I’m absolutely thrilled. Obviously it was a goal of mine, I don’t know how long, « MacIntyre mentioned on The Bunkered podcast.
» It’s probably been about a year and a half since I was close to getting the job done and getting into the Masters, but it feels like it is accomplished the mission and we finally did it. « Now it’s all about performing and performing, » he added.
Robert MacIntyre was named European Tour Rookie of the Year in 2019, so there are many expectations for his Career. The Augusta National layout always brings out the best in emerging talent, and MacIntyre has already proven that he is up to any challenge.
MacIntyre caught attention when he played his match against Dustin Johnson at the WGC-Del l tied match play. What looked like a well-deserved win for the Scoot was turned into a late climb from World No. 1 Johnson dismissed.
Nevertheless, there are massive expectations for debutant Robert MacIntyre in Augusta this year. The 2021 Masters kicks off April 8th and the world’s best golfers will be in Augusta, hoping to survive after the first two rounds.
