Jaylen Brown of the Celtics shows up in front of Bradley Beal of the Wizards

Jaylen Brown’s rise to the NBA wasn’t accidental, his breakout in this year’s All-Star season was inevitable, while the 2021 Boston Celtics were disappointing, inconsistent, and mediocre.

The Celtics (18- 17), currently fourth in the Eastern Conference, will face the Toronto Raptors on Thursday evening to expand their winning streak to four in a row. Before it’s too late, Brown and fellow All-Star Jayson Tatum still have a lot to prove by the end of the 2021 campaign.

At this point in the season – 35 games in – it’s still unclear whether the Celtics have enough talent to turn adversity into a title fight opportunity. We know Tatum, Brown and Kemba Walker are giving them a shot for a deep playoff run, but is the likelihood of Boston becoming a championship threat this season really in sight?

If not, Danny Ainge, Celtics president for basketball, may be looking for potential ways to find a new route that will better prepare his team for the future.

If that means breaking away from one of his under 25s Separating stars, Jeff Goodman, co-host of CLNS Media’s Bob Ryan & Jeff Goodman podcast, believes Ainge is worth checking out.

« The Celtics should look into Jaylen Brown, » Goodman said about the Bob Ryan & Jeff Goodman Podcast. “Is there a team out there, Bob, that believes Jaylen Brown is, or could be, a franchise player? One type of franchise; a top 10 player in the NBA. If that is the case, why not go see what you could get for him now? I don’t exchange it for 75 cents of the dollar. I’m not trading him for less than another All-Star and maybe more because he’s 24 years old.

« But I’d see what I could get because I still don’t think Jaylen Brown is , Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker are great together. «

» I don’t think they go that well together because, « explained Goodman, » they are still at their core; all scorers. «

A All-Star Jeff, whom he would pair up with Tatum, is a name previously associated with Jayson because of his respective backgrounds in St. Louis – Bradley Beal, All-Star Guardian of the Washington Wizards.

“I would do a deal with Jaylen Brown for Bradley Beal. I would make that deal, ”said Goodman. « I don’t know where you stand with this. Bradley Beal; he’s a goalscorer in Washington because he has to be. They really have nothing else for the most part. I know they now have (Russell) Westbrook, and they had John Wall, In the end, Bradley Beal can also be a ball mover. «

As Goodman points out, 27-year-old Beal is no closer to 30 than 25 – which certainly fits into the Celtics’ preferred championship window.

« He’s a very good passer (and) a very good scorer, » said Goodman. « (Beals) not as good, defensive as Jaylen Brown. But still a good defender too. And he’s 27. He’s not 24 (but) let’s not make it sound like 27 is here over the hill. It is in its prime. «
