World news – NE Florida, SE Georgia under tornado watch; several counties under thunderstorm warning

The latest weather warnings during Weather Authority Alert Day on Thursday.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been canceled in Alachua County. It was extended to 3:45 p.m. in Counties Bradford and Union.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Counties Baker, Clay, Duval and Union until 4:00 p.m.

Just as a tornado warning expired for Alachua County, a tornado warning was issued for Bradford County due to a tornado on the radar. It continues until 3:30 p.m.

Chief meteorologist John Gaughan, who is tracking it on Channel 4, said these storms don’t look particularly severe.

This happens when a tornado clock continues until 6:00 p.m. in Southeast Georgia and Northeast Georgia. This includes Counties of Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Duval, Union in Florida and Nassau, and Counties of Camden, Glynn, Charlton, Brantley, Ware, Clinch and Echols in Georgia.

The gust line over parts of western Georgia will continue east-northeast until the early afternoon in the late morning. Our warm, unstable atmosphere will allow these storms to intensify for the next few hours.

People in Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida have the potential to see strong to severe storms that include harmful winds, frequent lightning, cause heavy rains and isolated tornadoes. The National Weather Service received a report on several trees in Pierce County that occurred during a tornado warning issued around 1:45 p.m.

The time frame for these storms is now 7 p.m. For this reason, the weather department has declared Thursday an alarm day.

All athletics exercises and competitions of the Duval County Public Schools today will be canceled, as the area per AD Tammie Talley district is under tornado surveillance.

The schools in Ware County have been released early, and Duval County has canceled afternoon drills and competitions scheduled for Thursday.

The heavy storm front has shattered houses and broken trees in Alabama and Mississippi, and moved to Georgia and Florida on Thursday.

We have several ways of receiving warnings. You can download the Weather Authority app to get alerts on your location, check for updates on News4Jax.com, and check for updates on Channel 4 every hour on the hour.
