World news – NTU, and Deloitte Singapore launch their Business and Accounting degree program

NTU said the three-year program at Nanyang Business School (NBS) will allow students to gain experience while working in established accounting firms and other major employers during their studies, and advance into entry-level management roles after graduation Thursday (November 19).

Around 30 students in accounting from December will begin their first internship with Deloitte for a period of 25 to 30 weeks.

Under this partnership, Deloitte will offer up to 50 internship positions in consulting, auditing, assurance, and taxation to NBS students each year..

NTU students studying work at Deloitte will also earn a higher internship salary and may secure a full-time permanent job with a higher entry-level position at Deloitte after they graduate.

The work and study program is similar in duration to the regular accounting degree program and has the same accreditation.

On completion of the course, students will be awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from NTU.

However, students in the Work and Study program must complete an internship of at least 35 weeks, which is three times longer than the apprenticeship period of a regular accounting course of 10 weeks.

NTU said: “The program’s longer career attachment will provide undergraduates with a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the accounting industry by closely integrating classroom learning with structured on-the-job training. .

“Students benefit from acquisition of soft and technical skills, increased exposure to a professional work environment, and a deeper understanding of real-world practices..
