Police say the woman was driving north on a gray Nissan X-Trail on Chester Pass Road when the car left the road and hit a tree.
A 78-year-old man who also occupied the X-Trail, was rushed to Katanning Hospital with serious injuries.
Chester Pass Road was closed in both directions for several hours yesterday when Major Crash officers investigated the scene.
Yesterday’s fatal crash raised the Great Southern toll to 11 in the first three months of 2021.
