According to TMZ Sports, De La Hoya made the announcement, dropped the microphone and walked off the stage. He has announced no opponent.
Ryan Kavanaugh, CEO of Triller parent company Proxima Media, told ESPN that Oscar De La Hoya’s comeback fight will likely take place in Texas on July 3rd, possibly at AT& T stage. Triller ideally wants a « big » UFC name for the opponent, Kavanaugh said.
De La Hoya won 11 world titles in six weight classes during his professional career, which ran from 1992 to 2008. Today he works as Chairman and CEO for Golden Boy Promotions, a boxing and MMA advertising company.
The Golden Boy won his first 31 fights and ended with a professional record of 39-6. His last game was against Manny Pacquiao, who won from TKO in December 2008 after De La Hoya failed to come out in Round 9.
De La Hoya joins other fighters who have recently retired. That list includes Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr., who fought for a tie in an eight-round boxing match last November.
