Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille will meet in the French Super Cup final at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

PSG has the new head coach and they won their first Ligue 1 victory last weekend. PSG played at home against Brest in that game and were the dominant team with 60% possession, 11 shots on goal. 7 corners, 4 big chances and 91% of the right passes. PSG moved forward in the 16th minute and it took them a while to score another goal. With two more quick goals in the 81st and 83rd minutes, PSG won this game 3-0. PSG are still in the Ligue 1 title race and are now in 2nd place with 39 points. Bernat, Neymar, Kimpembe, Dagba and Kehrer are currently injured due to PSG. There have been a lot of transfer rumors at PSG this week, including leaving Mbappe for disagreeing with the new manager’s ideas, Neymar extending his contract and making PSG Messi an offer but nothing concrete yet. PSG are probably the best team in France in the last decade and they are the biggest favorite in every French competition every season, including this one.

After a small slump in December, Marseille started this year well and in the last two games scored a win and a draw. In the Ligue 1 standings, Marseille are in 6th place with 32 points, but with 16 goals they are still one of the best defensive teams in the league. In their last game against Dijon on the street, Marseille had 59% possession, 4 shots on goal, 6 corners, 2 big chances and 79% of correct passes. Marseille created some good chances but they couldn’t finish any of them and that game ended in a 0-0 draw. Sanson, Amavi and Henrique are injured for Marseille and will most likely miss this game. Marseille are a good team but lack attacking options and they lose their place in the Champions League every game. There is still half of the season to play and Marseille have plenty of time to get back on track but they need to improve their squad in this transfer window and their overall game.

Marseille beat PSG in Round 3 this season, but that was a long time ago when PSG struggled. Before that game, Marseille beat PSG on the road in 2010. PSG are the better side here and their defense looks better with the new head coach. I don’t think two games in a row between these two teams will end in less than 3 goals, which is why I’m going to take PSG and goals here.
