World news – Persona 5 Strikers is the spin-off that you didn’t know you wanted

Persona 5 Strikers is the crossover spin-off of Persona 5 and Dynasty Warriors that you didn't know you wanted until now.

I played about 10 hours of the 100 Hour Persona 5 when it launched on PS4, and I played maybe about 10 minutes of a Dynasty Warrior a couple of years ago. But here I am to explain why you should be interested in the Persona 5-Dynasty Warriors-Crossover Persona 5 Strikers.

Brendy (RPS in peace) and his group of high schoolers are currently running through dungeons across Japan, so You can expect a written review from him soon. In the meantime, if you’re looking for opinions on the latest Persona 5 spin-off, you can check out the video above.

I’m sure Persona 5 Strikers will split the crowd a bit: there’s no turn-based combat system, there’s very little social material here, and it’s about a third the length of the exclusive PlayStation. But as a stopover between 5 and 6 – or Persona 4 Golden and the next main persona that comes to the pc – it’s a really fun departure from the norm.

Turn-taking is not enforced here. If you want to attack the enemy, you just go and attack the bastard. The hacking and hacking isn’t pointless either, as you still need to be aware of the weaknesses of your enemies as well as the strengths of your party members. The catch with Persona 5 Strikers, however, is that in addition to the freedom to stab anime monsters in real time, you can also pause the action to use your personas. It all works very well together, a fine line between chaos and control.

While you don’t have to worry about romance or school – the dream for someone who hasn’t enjoyed it by the age of 16 – it does P5S is not just about hitting shadow heads. Despite its almost sickly sweet delivery at times, the story is truly enjoyable, with the new characters standing out as great additions to the established cast.

Check out the video at the top of this article to see how it in action looks like, and to learn more about the game. Or, if that’s not enough for you, you can hear Persona 5 Strikers chat with me and Matthew on this week’s episode of The PC Gaming Weekspot starting at 6 p.m.
