AHMEDABAD: Indian skipper Virat Kohli fears the lights at Narendra Modi Stadium could obstruct the view and said the players need to adjust quickly.

The renovated stadium, the largest cricket arena in the world, has no traditional floodlight towers, but a ring of LED lights around the perimeter of its roof.

It is similar to the « fire ring » in the Dubai International Stadium, which often presents the field team with a challenge.

« It’s an exciting atmosphere here in the biggest cricket stadium. I’m a little more worried about the lights than the color of the seats, » said Kohli when throwing the ball before the day / night test against England.

« If it gets lost with the lights in the back, it’s hard to see the ball. We have a similar stadium Played in Dubai. It’s all about angles and body positions. You have to adjust pretty quickly, « added Kohli.

During the Indian Premeir League in the United Arab Emirates last year, outfields in Dubai were compared due to the dazzling lights dropped several regular catches to the Abu Dhabi and Sharjah stadiums.

Kohli also reiterated that he didn’t think the orange seats in the stands would pose a visibility challenge to the players.
