Researchers have called for a closer look at the link between diet and dementia after a study found that consuming processed meat was associated with an increased risk.

The researchers found that consuming 25g Serving of processed meat per day, roughly equivalent to a slice of bacon, was linked to a 44 percent higher risk of diagnosing dementia.

Eating meat was previously linked to a risk of dementia, but researchers believe this is the first study of its kind who found a link between certain types and quantities of meat and the risk of developing the disease.
