The Purdue Defense was one of the most stable units in the nation in 2021, dropping 72 points or less in every game that calendar year. On Friday, the Boilermakers will visit a Penn State squad seeking revenge after an 80:72 loss in West Lafayette, Indiana in January.
The Penn State crime faltered in February and has in scored more than 68 points twice in their seven games, averaging 64.7 points per game. The Nittany Lions shoot 31.6 percent from 3-point range on this distance after scoring 36.6 percent from a distance in their first 13 games. A problem when you consider that Purdue gives up the fewest points per game among the 14 Big Ten teams when it comes to 2-point shots in conference play.
Purdue ranks 21st in rebound rates in real street games Land and should be the color against a Penn State team that allows their opponents to get 54.8 percent of their 2-point shots, which equates to 318th place. Trevion Williams is the Boilermakers’ top scorer at 16 ppg and their top rebounder at 9.1 per game.
The Boilermakers have covered the spread in eight of their last eleven games. With Penn State ranked 244th in the country for points awarded per possession, Purdue’s reporting methods should continue on Friday.
