World news – Recent Orders: The ASX had its best IPO of 2021 so far today; but falls 0.73 percent – Stockhead

The ASX had the best IPO debut of the year so far in the manganese explorer Firebird Metals (ASX: FRB), which rose 198 percent on the debut.

This exceeded the previous record of WA Telco Pentanet (ASX : 5GG) from 2021, which ended its first day 138 percent higher in late January.

Firebird is a spin-off from parent company Firefly Resources (ASX: FFR). The company, one of Tolga Kumova’s investments, once counted the Oakover manganese project as its own flagship project, but switched to precious metals.

The ASX 200 lost 0.73 percent to reach 6,746 points, while the ASX Emerging Companies Index lost 1 percent gained and closed at 2,075 points.

Most sectors were in the red, led by healthcare, which fell 1.71 percent. Only energy, materials, and consumer goods were all green, and while the latter was the best, it rose just 0.13 percent.

Internet service provider Spirit Technology (ASX: ST1) is to sell its consumer infrastructure assets. The company said these were no longer at the core of the company’s strategy and the proceeds from the sale would fund further acquisitions in the B2B sector as well as cybersecurity, cloud & IT services.

The acquisition of CannPal Animal Therapeutics (ASX: CP1) through AusCann Group Holdings (ASX: AC8) took effect today, and all CannPal shares have been transferred to AusCann.

The Sayona Mining (ASX: SYA) lithium inventory rose in Canada by over 20 percent. Sayona CEO Brett Lynch said Tansim now has a bigger role in Sayona’s plans for 2021 and is an integral part of his vision of a world-scale lithium hub in Canada’s Abitibi region.

Agtech company Roots Sustainable Agricultural Technologies ( ASX: ROO) has signed a deal with the Caribbean CBD farm – a cannabis farmer based in Puerto Rico. The company says Puerto Rico was a great opportunity for Roots with 31 licensed cannabis producers.

Auteco Minerals (ASX: AUT), one of last year’s biggest gold winners, increased its stake in Canada’s Pickle Crow gold project 51 percent.
