It’s still January, but baseball season is not far away and spring practice is even closer. With MLB commissioner Rob Manfred reportedly urging teams to prepare for a 162-game regular season, the league is also preparing for fans to play games in some cities.
In a memo to all of the Los Angeles Times teams received MLB set « Minimum Health and Safety Standards » for fan participation in the coming season. MLB does not require fans to show that they recently tested negative for COVID-19 or received the COVID-19 vaccination before participating in a game. Similar to the 2020 postseason, MLB will also not require teams to perform temperature checks before entering the ballpark.
Also, masks are required at all times (except for eating and drinking), and when entering a ballpark and inside social distancing required.
According to the LA Times, the memo explained why testing or vaccinations are not required to participate in games this season.
To explain why testing is not required, said Die Liga: « Bulky tests of this kind are impractical with the existing rapid test options, and tests are of limited usefulness when run days before an event. » The league said its guidelines may change in the event of « greater advances in testing technology ».
In the memo, the league also advised and advised of the « uncertainty surrounding the manufacture and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines » the teams to seek legal counsel before fans are forced to vaccinate.
Given that rapid tests are not widespread and the adoption of vaccines across the country has been catastrophic at best, MLB doesn’t believe it’s feasible by fans to request that they receive both before entering a game.
The memo reportedly stated that health and safety requirements are only the bare minimum. Teams have the authority to perform temperature checks or request evidence of tests or vaccinations, and of course they must follow the regulations set by their cities and counties. Fans attending professional sporting events are still banned in some MLB cities, including California.
While no team has made spring training tickets available for purchase yet, this may change soon. In the memo, MLB reportedly opened the door to selling spring training cards in « pods » or groups. Tickets for regular season games are also sold this way. The size of the pods was not specified, but each group had to be at least two meters apart at all times.
The San Jose Sharks striker has nothing to show for a career win of over $ 50 million.
Am Tomorrow after defeating the Phoenix Suns, the Wizards canceled Tuesday’s scheduled training « out of caution » after two players were included in the league’s health and safety protocols.
Fans stood shoulder to shoulder inside and outside the Tuscaloosa bars to watch the championship game on Monday.
« Most of all, I am an American citizen with a great awe of our nation’s values, freedom and democracy, » wrote Belichick.
In one In a gruesome repetition of events, Toronto Raptors striker Pascal Siakam again missed a potential shot that won the game. The striker discusses game design and what he thought during the final possession.
The curious case of Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving just keeps getting complicated. Irving has missed Brooklyn’s last three games for unknown personal reasons and was excluded from Tuesday’s game against the Denver Nuggets under the same circumstances. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets also expect Irving to at least miss the team’s two remaining games this week.
The Washington Wizards say two of their players are on the NBA’s list of health and safety protocols. This is the latest in a wave of bad news related to the coronavirus pandemic for the league over the past few days. They beat the Phoenix Suns Monday night and are due to host Utah Jazz on Wednesday night. The wizards did not identify the two players. Based on the latest information from teams, although the numbers can change quickly, it appears at least 36 players in the NBA kicking in on Tuesday are facing a virus problem. These issues include players having to sit down because contact tracing data showed they may have been exposed to someone who is positive about COVID-19. « We have a tough time with COVID, » said Philadelphia coach Doc Rivers after his exhausted team lost in Atlanta on Monday night. “We can’t do much with it. I have a creeping feeling that there will be many teams with this problem. « The NBA Board of Governors was due to meet on Tuesday to review the latest virus issues in the league. The league’s general managers met on Monday, as did the National Basketball Players Association. Miami was preparing, with no eight players on Tuesday playing in Philadelphia due to virus issues and subsequent contact tracing, a heat issue after playing in Washington on Saturday night.Boston’s Chicago game on Tuesday was canceled due to virus issues, as was the game Dallas-New Orleans on Monday and the Heat Celtics matchup in Boston on Sunday. General managers discussed Monday’s squad size increase and stiffening protocols for player interaction such as post-game handshakes and hugs, said a person familiar with the discussion. The GMs also discussed advocating even more social distancing and masked clothing, said the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because details of the conversations were not made public. NBA commissioner Adam Silver warned ahead of the season that pandemic problems were « inevitable » but the league has also said in recent days that suspending the game is not currently being considered. The league said Thursday that four out of 498 players in the league had new positive tests for testing in the previous seven days. This number is expected to be updated later this week .___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_SportsTim Reynolds, The Associated Press
LONDON – Fulham Manager Scott Parker struck the Premier League on Tuesday for rearranging his side’s game against Tottenham with just two days’ notice. The decision is « scandalous ». Tottenham were scheduled to play Aston Villa on Wednesday but the game was postponed on Monday at Villa’s request because 10 of their players tested positive for the coronavirus last week. The Premier League also announced that Tottenham would play Fulham instead that same night, with the game originally scheduled for December 30 being postponed following a coronavirus outbreak, Parker said that the possibility that his team was playing on the penultimate Place in the league, could face Tottenham on Wednesday, was increased at the weekend, but the final decision was not forwarded to the club until Monday morning « I’m usually the last one to moan or whine about something because I know that it’s difficult out there and it is, but what happened to us (are you? nfair), ”said Parker. “To also confirm a Premier League game – this is the Premier League, one of the best leagues in the world – to confirm that it is really scandalous on Monday morning at 9:30 am, to be honest. It’s not about the device. The device is fine. I accept that we have to play. But it’s the clue. “Fulham played Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup on Saturday – the game went into overtime, Fulham won 2-0 – and Parker said his selection for that game might have changed if the Tottenham game had already taken place Confirmed . He said he might have fine-tuned his training schedule as well: “We work with our players on the weekend and think that you have six or seven days before your next game to update or do (things) work. That changed quickly on Monday morning, « said Parker, » and for me it’s really insane. “Parker strongly disagreed with comments from Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho that the biggest impact was that games were postponed and the delayed notification wasn’t unfair because the decision to postpone the game on December 30th was just hours before kick-off was hit: « In terms of the game being canceled 48 hours before or two hours before the game, it really is irrelevant, » said Parker. « It’s a disappointment that you canceled a game and I understand that. » But calling a game with 48 hours notice is (unfair). Look, I don’t want to go into Jose, but I think he’s going to know too well that you plan structures, you plan physical elements for players. Tottenham knew they had this game, as Jose’s team selection over the weekend (against eighth division Marine) suggested. He’s likely scheduled for the next few games, however many games he has, and of course he has a lot of games. « Parker asked if a game between two of the top Premier League teams would be postponed this late. » Probably not, « he said. » This is unacceptable to me. « Villa’s request to the Premier League had to be received and signed before Fulham could be contacted, and confirmation was only possible on Monday after everyone had been affected by the rescheduling Clubs and broadcasters had been consulted. Fulham was a signatory in September of a number of guiding principles contained in the League’s Handbook. One of these states: « Clubs must accept changes to normal conditions and schedules to ensure the completion of the competition. » More AP soccer: https://apnews.com/Soccer and https://twitter.com/AP_SportsThe Associated Press

LONDON – The start of the Formula 1 season was postponed for a week on Tuesday after the Australian Grand Prix was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After the race in Melbourne was postponed from March to November, the season will now start on March 28 in Bahrain.
The Australian race, originally slated to open on March 21st, has been postponed to November 21st. The F1 organizers cite « the current situation regarding COVID-19 ». The Chinese Grand Prix has also been postponed, but no new date has been set. Strict travel restrictions for the pandemic make Australia and China the hardest countries to reach for F1 teams.
Instead, the season kicks off with the Bahrain Grand Prix, less than four months after the Sakhir venue hosted two races as part of the 2020 season.
A race was added on April 18 at the Imola circuit in Italy, one week after the scheduled date for the Chinese GP. There is a vacancy on May 2nd with the Portimao circuit in Portugal among the leading candidates for this weekend.
« Talks with the organizer and the authorities in China are ongoing, with the potential to postpone the race later in the season if possible. » F1 said in a statement.
There is no obvious backup date on the calendar. The races in the second half of the season are organized in three-week blocks one after the other, which puts a lot of strain on the team.
The postponement of the GP in Australia already means postponing the end of the season in Abu Dhabi by one week to December 12th. The calendar remains at 23 races, the most of all time.
Martin Pakula, the Victorian state’s minister of tourism and major events who supports the Melbourne race, said it was a wise decision that could potentially result in international fans in attendance – if Australia’s borders reopen in time will.
« This is the right decision and we thank the Formula 1 management for their cooperation in setting a new schedule, » he said. « The Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix is one of the greatest events in the world and we will ensure that it can be held safely and successfully in November. »
The pandemic has interrupted the F1 season for a second year. Last year’s race in Australia was canceled after a team member tested positive for the coronavirus. Fans were preparing for training on Friday when the organizers announced the cancellation.
This led to a cascade of postponements and cancellations, which meant the rescheduled 2020 season didn’t start until July. Until December there was a compressed schedule for 17 races with all races in Europe or the Middle East.

Sharing a small space can be difficult. Mixing ego, pride, and ambition can create even more challenges. With the NHL preparing for an unprecedented season, goalkeepers Thatcher Demko and Braden Holtby seem to have struck harmony knowing they will share the Vancouver Canucks’ fold. « Holts and I got on very well, » said Demko during a training camp interview. « He was a great guy to meet, very down to earth, very hardworking. He’s also easy to talk to, chat about things, share things about different things we’re working on. » Holtby, who was signed as a free agent after 10 years with the Washington Capitals, arrived early in Vancouver to meet Demko. « We were able to work together and get to know each other, » said the former winner of the Vezina Trophy. « I think it’s going to work really well. He has the work ethic a team needs to be successful [and] for goalkeepers to be successful. » CLOCK | CBC Sports’ Rob Pizzo analyzes the NHL’s off-season goalkeeping movement: The Canucks were in the market for a goalkeeper when free agent Jacob Markstrom took on rival Calgary Flames after a six-year deal worth $ 36 million. The Canucks signed a two-year deal with Holtby for $ 8.6 million. In any work environment, some people don’t necessarily like each other, but they can still stay productive. Demko said a hockey locker room is no different. But having a positive relationship with the other goalkeeper makes everyone’s life a lot easier. « It’s something you feel a little bit detrimental to knowing that you will get a little support from your goalkeeping partners, » said Demko. « When guys bump heads, it’s something that just annoys you. » If you can support each other, it will only improve each other’s play [and] improve the team’s game. It’s been good with Braden so far. « Rob Pizzo of WATCH | CBC Sports ranks in the all-Canadian division of the NHL: The Canucks open their season on Wednesday in Edmonton with two games against the Oilers. They will play 56 games in 116 days in a very competitive Canadian division with seven teams lots of pieces have to be dubbed for the Canucks to reach the playoffs, but the team is « in a good place » when it comes to goalkeepers, said head coach Travis Green. « We hope that a young goalkeeper will improve, who played tremendously in the playoffs, « he said of Demko. » We have a man who has already done a lot in the league and has a lot of juice left. « Experience and above Holtby, 31, and Demko, 25, bring slightly different styles. The 6-foot-2, 211-pound Holtby is a flow-and-feel goalkeeper. The 6-foot-4, 192-pound -Demko is technical Both come into the year with something to prove. Demko has been cultivated as a starter since the Canucks voted him 36th overall on the 2014 draft. In his first full season in the NHL last year, the San Diego native won , Calif., 13 of the 25 games he started with 3.06 goals against the average and a saving of 0.905 percent. Demko shone in the playoffs. When Markstrom was out due to an injury, he stopped 128 of 130 shots in three games before the Canucks lost Game 7 of the second round to the Vegas Golden Knights. « You see what [Demko] has done in the playoffs, even his progress over the past few years. We expected him to knock on the door for years to be a starting goalkeeper, « said Green. WATCH | Bettman says the league’s losses will start in the billions: Holtby wants to erase memories of a subpar season last year, when he had a record of 25-14-6, a GAA of 3.11 and a savings of 0.897 percent. « Last year was quite a struggle at times, » the Lloydminster, Sask. native said in an interview earlier this year. “Things didn’t go as planned.” Holtby has an impressive track record. He helped lead the capitals to the 2018 Stanley Cup championship. As a five-time All-Star, he led the league in 2015 shots (2,044) saves (1,887), played games (73) and finished second in wins (41). He was named the NHL’s Best Goalkeeper in 2016 after setting Martin Brodeur’s record with 48 wins. Goalkeepers will be important when Vancouver ends the season at 11th Play opened in 18 days, including three back-to-back sets. « It’s going to be a sprint by the end of the season, » said Green. « We are fortunate to have two players that we will trust to go online. This season you have to play your two-goal rotation more than in the past, with how many games there are. » Green said performance will determine which goalkeeper plays more games. « It’s exciting for us to have two people like that to start training camp, » he said. « I’m not going to sit here and say I already know who’s going to play how many games. Let’s see where they are on the ice. »
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the NBA is also experiencing a blowout epidemic. One can only wonder if the two are related. In the first three weeks of this NBA season, games become outliers far more than usual. Maybe it’s because there are no fans in most arenas, maybe it’s because the teams are tired of playing with a little less calm than in recent years, or maybe because the pressures of a COVID-19 World Heavyweight Players It’s probably a combination of all of that and more. But the numbers are pretty overwhelming too: the average profit margin in the NBA, currently around 12.3 points per game, is well on the way to being the largest in league history. And the rate of teams increasing by 30 points or more – that’s the case in 20% of games played to date – is beating the norm even in this 3-point wild, faster era of NBA game. « This is going to be the craziest NBA season ever, » said Brooklyn coach Steve Nash. « We’ve already seen some incredible results and curiosities, so I think the only thing that’s important is just to be adaptable and keep working on things and learning as much as anything but exercise through your games. » Last season one NBA team took over 30 points ahead of the other 10% of the time. In the previous season (2018-19) this rate was 11%. In the previous year, 9% of Milwaukee had played 11 games and had 30 points ahead in four of them. The Bucks were only 25 points ahead of Orlando on Monday. The Los Angeles Clippers have played 11 games; They are at least 20 points ahead or behind in eight of them, including the biggest deficit in the NBA this season – 57 points against Dallas on December 27th. The only teams in the NBA that weren’t at the top 20 points left this season? Chicago, Minnesota, Oklahoma City and Sacramento. The only team that hasn’t dropped by 20? Indiana. Every other team has been in a very, very deep hole at least once this season – and Pacers Guard Malcolm Brogdon isn’t shy of calling first-year coach Nate Bjorkgren great. Say this much for Bjorkgren: He’s had the Pacers in every game, no small thing this era. « I think this organization has been sleeping for years, » Brogdon said last month. « I think it’s time people woke up. » It’s not that there were just blowouts every night this season. Monday was the 20th day of the season. Of those days, nine have decided multiple games with three or fewer points, most recently a pair of such games on Sunday. One extreme exception, however, was the five-game showcase line-up on Christmas Day – where the next final margin was 13 points. This marked the first time since 2006 that the NBA had no single-digit games for Christmas, and it must be noted that Miami’s 16-point win over the Los Angeles Lakers that year was the only game on the December 25th schedule . And games have tightened a bit in the last few days; In the week of December 29 through January 4, 15 of the 56 NBA games were 30 points clear, and in the week that followed and ended Monday, only eight of 53 games were ahead of that point at that time. Maybe this is a sign that the teams are in better shape, a real possibility after a shortened training camp and a shortened preseason. « If you keep that competitive spirit, it will spread throughout the group, » said Patty Mills, guardian of San Antonio. « It’s contagious. » Who knows where the scoring will go in the next days and weeks amid the pandemic that has forced the NBA to postpone games scheduled for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The ripple effects of the contact tracing results will be felt in Dallas, Miami, and other cities for at least the next few days. As Nash said, the craziest NBA season ever is waiting on the scoreboards and waiting. And it’s just getting started. ___Tim Reynolds is a national basketball writer for The Associated Press.
