Emergency services are said to be launching a search off the south-east of Sydney after eyewitnesses reported that it was a baby swimming in the water.
Police who arrived at Yarra Bay in La Perouse called to learn that an object that looked like a baby wrapped in a plastic bag was seen in the shallow water.
Police Marine Area Command, Polair, NSW Ambulance and several rescue helicopters searched the area but the search stopped interrupted at 7.45 p.m. due to poor visibility and no further sighting of the property.
A search in Sydney continues this morning after several witnesses reported that it was a baby wrapped in a plastic bag that was in the Sea swims.
