Ahmedabad: The new Mr. Natural has arrived, not since Australian Adam Gilchrist had a precocious batsman wicketkeeping talent on the cricket scene. Remember, Pant’s huge success in test cricket is now a familiar thing.
There was no doubt that Pant was able to save India first and then bat it home. He showed an example of this again on Friday with a century against England, his third cricket in the test match.
What has proven itself in the ongoing test series is his ability to wear wicket-keeping gloves. Pant had asserted itself well in the two previous tests in Chennai and here and in this in difficult fields and established itself as the No. 1 wicketkeeper for India in all formats. This is a big leap in three months, and at the beginning it was doubted that he could ever follow in Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s footsteps or that he was lost in comparison.
A couple of series-defining innings in Australia in January and his blitzkrieg – 101 of 118 balls – on Friday brought India from 153 for six wickets, i.e. 52 runs behind England, to 294 for seven – and 89 runs in just under one session – has proven that he is set for a long distance.
Indian opener Rohit Sharma said on Friday: “He seems to be doing the job for us. He’s more than ready, I think [to slip into Dhoni’s shoes]. «In this series, Pant has done well behind the gates, even if the ball has kicked and bounced.

Pant apparently wasn’t selected for testing in India because of his wicket-keeping Skills were not considered appropriate. In this series, however, he has shown that he is at this level as both a batsman and a wicket keeper.
« There is always a wicketkeeper at play on Indian surfaces. If you are good at it you will be appreciated, if you do one This is often noticed when the catch is dropped on a flat playing field. But on courses that help turn even if you miss an oddball, people blame the field, not your wicket-keeping skills. So it’s a little easier that way, ”added More.
Pant got a lot of flak for not beating properly. He apparently lost his place in the page for not betting responsibly. The dismissal during the 2019 World Cup met with a lot of criticism. However, now it seems to have matured. He brought India to a resounding win with an unbeaten 89 in the fourth and final Test against Australia in Brisbane in January after helping India pull the third Test in Sydney with a 97.
Opener Sharma supported Pant’s style of striking, who is aggressive and has remained largely unchanged from the start.
« He was fine for the first half of his innings, he absolutely trusted his defense, and when we were 200 he only wanted to take on the bowlers who are fine. You need such a player on your team who is not afraid to go up against bowlers, « said Sharma, describing Pant’s eyelashes on Friday.
The first half century of Pant took 82 deliveries and the next only 33. The innings were strategically well constructed.
