Springfield City Utilities is running ongoing power outages to keep pace with power demand in the Midwest.
According to CU spokesman Joel Alexander, the utility received a 30-minute warning before it was known the power outages were beginning must.
CU plans to turn off power to various parts of Springfield for 30 to 60 minutes.
